Posted: 2015-07-27

White Sands Technology, Inc. is pleased to announce that ProActive DBA Version 9.2 will be generally available on September 1, 2015. This new release adds some nice new features we think you’ll enjoy.  More details are below.

What’s in the New Version?

Version 9.2 includes enhancements to a number of the ProActive DBA family of products.

TimeLine Performance Monitor

  • Improved performance and reduced spinlock contention on the Sybase ASE process snapshot.
  • The Sybase ASE engine utilization graph in TimeLine and in Dashboard windows now provides more meaningful values on ASE 15.7 and later servers using threaded kernel mode.
  • Added new columns to the TimeLine process snapshot for SQL Server, to display each session’s client IP address and TCP port, transaction isolation level and space usage in the tempdb database.

TimeLine Alerting Option

  • New TimeLine OS File Size alert triggers when the size of any selected file exceeds the defined threshold.
  • The Database Engine Utilization alert now uses the improved engine usage metrics gathered by TimeLine on Sybase ASE 15.7 and later servers using threaded kernel mode.

TimeLine Dashboard Option

  • This release lets you open floating Enterprise and Server Group Dashboard windows on the desktop.
  • Added named layouts for Server and Server Group Dashboard windows; you can assign layouts to open Dashboard windows and to servers and server groups in the main Console window.
  • Many new available columns have been added to the Server Group Dashboards for the various server types.
  • New Active SQL widget for Server Dashboard windows lets you keep an eye on running SQL on your monitored servers.

ProActive DBA Warehouse

  • New user interface layout for the Data Miner window: server and date range selections are now done globally instead of per-report.  Report definitions are now handled using a standard New/Open/Save document workflow.
  • Added a number of new performance metrics-based report types in the Data Miner and Warehouse Reports windows, based on Sybase ASE disk, cache, database segment and other metrics types, Sybase IQ main/temp store statistics, and various SQL Server performance statistics sets.
  • Added new Unused Stored Procedure report type to the Data Miner.
  • New PDW Historical tab lets you perform baseline comparisons of SQL execution times against historical min/max/average values.
  • The Warehouse now tracks database object references and DBM activities performed by user-defined SQL functions.
