New Database Version Support

ProActive DBA 9.1 includes support for the following new database server versions:

  • SAP Sybase ASE 16.0
  • SAP Sybase IQ 16.0
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2014
  • Supports using SQL Server 2014 to host a ProActive DBA Warehouse database (ASE 16.0 and IQ 16.0 were already supported by the Warehouse components)

SQL Capture Enhancements

Version 9.1 offers a number of major improvements to SQL Capture:

  • Capture Agents can now perform automatic pruning of SQL Capture / TimeLine flat files and repository data, based on settings you define.
  • SQL Capture now records client context values set by the ‘set clientapplname’, ‘set clienthostname’ and ‘set clientname’ commands on SAP/Sybase ASE servers.  These values are also summarized and stored in the ProActive DBA Warehouse if it is being used.
  • Added support for capturing traffic on Solaris 11 IPMP aggregated network interfaces.
  • The columns in the SQL Capture tab’s SQL detail list are now customizable: a new dialog lets you add, remove or reorder columns.
  • Added option to enable or disable processing of SQL/login-based reports when loading SQL Capture data into the Console, independently of loading SQL/login details into memory.

TimeLine Dashboard Option

This release of ProActive DBA includes several exciting new features that are part of the TimeLine Dashboard Option:

  • New Enterprise Dashboard shows customizable status and performance indicators on all servers or groups of servers.  You can add, move or delete columns using a configuration dialog.
  • New floating server Dashboard windows sit on the desktop and display customizable status and performance widgets.
  • Added a number of new server Dashboard widget types, particularly for Sybase Replication Server.
  • Fixed long delays in updating server Dashboard windows that could occur in certain cases when a capture Agent or middle-tier Agent was inaccessible.

TimeLine Alerting Option Enhancements

The 9.1 release includes several improvements and new features that are part of the TimeLine Alerting Option:

  • Added new tokens to the Transaction Log Hold Alert for Sybase ASE, so that user scripts can obtain details about the process and transaction holding the transaction log open.
  • Added support for specifying SQLCode values and ranges for Sybase IQ servers in the TimeLine Database Error Log Code Alert.
  • Error log monitoring now properly handles error log file rotation on Sybase IQ and Microsoft SQL Servers.

ProActive DBA Warehouse Enhancements

Version 9.1 includes some important new features as part of the ProActive DBA Warehouse product family:

  • Supports SQL aggregation by Sybase ASE ‘clientapplname’, ‘clienthostname’ and ‘clientname’ values.
  • Added support for saving alert detail records to the Warehouse database.
  • Added support for tracking table and column joins performed by SQL statements.
  • New capabilities for automated pruning of warehoused flat files, based on user-defined global or per-server settings.
  • Performance and efficiency improvements for saving data to the ProActive DBA Warehouse, particularly on Sybase IQ servers.
  • New Queue Manager Suspend/Resume dialog allows for scheduled pausing/resuming of queue processing at a selected date/time.
